QUINTESSA is a Freelance Writer & Journalist from Florida. A member and leader for Writers and Editors of Color Collective (WEOC). Content Writer & Editor for Cultured, WEOC, The Case for the 1619 Project, and AfroSapiophile Publications, with Bylines in GEN, Momentum, and midnight & indigo, a publication for Black female writers.

Initially known for writing fiction, QUINTESSA first began her liberation writing journey in 2019 when she wrote an essay on the pain and power of Black traumatic stories, published in midnight & indigo entitled, The Riot Within. The essay was met with praise from the publication and peers and is still regarded as one of midnight & indigo's top stories.

QUINTESSA joined Medium in January 2021 and broke hidden history barriers with her essay The Danger and Destiny of Black Ink, an ode to the history of Black history on Afrosapiophile.

During this time, QUINTESSA joined Writers and Editors of Color (WEOC), a writing collective unapologetically amplifying voices of color. QUINTESSA credits much of her writing success to the collective, describing the experience as forcing her to "pull up" in her work. QUINTESSA's work with WEOC has given her the opportunity to become an editor for several WEOC affiliated publications such as Cultured and Afrosapiophile as well as publishing in GEN and Momentum on Medium.

QUINTESSA's work ranges from race relations such as George Floyd's murder trial and police brutality against Black women, too in The System You Hit Me With Is A Fist, while also tackling celebrity controversies such as Bill Cosby’s release, Tupac and the LGBT movement, DaBaby’s controversial comments, Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s Tiffany and Basquiat controversy, Dave Chappelle’s controversy with the LGBT movement, and taking on political matters in her recent article on Biden and the Black Agenda and Condoleezza Rice rejecting Critical Race Theory and systemic racism in sports with A Football Player Takes A Knee and boycotting the Superbowl.

QUINTESSA believes that her current work is providing the makings of her first book she projects to publish within the next few years. Her hope is that her work will inspire real, revolutionary change and activism. In addition to writing, QUINTESSA is launching a booktube later this year, called Quinn’s Qorner. Her hope is that her other passion, —which is reading—, will continue to inspire and influence a generation to read more deeply and insightfully.
